As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is planning to build a home for girls. To be built near Inderlok metro station, the home is expected to be built nine months after awarding of the contract and will have capacity to house about 50 girls.

The home for girls is the second such children’s home to be built by Delhi Metro. Earlier, the DMRC had built a home for boys in Tis Hazari. The one for girls will be modelled on the existing boys’ home.

The children’s home will have dormitories, classrooms, an amphitheatre, and a playground. All safety requirements such as fire-fighting equipment will be fitted in the home. The home will be operated by NGO Salaam Balak Trust and is expected to be functional by mid-2012.
