Continuing with its efforts to skill marginalised youth, especially young women, under its corporate social responsibility (CSR), Hero MotoCorp has launched a skills training centre at Shamshabad Mandal, Hyderabad. To be run and managed by Swarna Bharat Trust, the training centre is equipped with a fully automated workshop with required pneumatic tools and precision equipment, and houses live cut sections of various Hero engines and other vehicle parts. The expert faculty at the centre will help students learn the technology that goes into making of two-wheelers as well as the maintenance of all Hero models.

The training centre was formally launched by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu in the presence of Hardeep Singh Puri, minister of state, ministry of housing and urban affairs, and Narendra Singh Tomar, union minister of rural development, panchayati raj and mines.

Representing Hero MotoCorp, Vijay Sethi, CIO  and head – CSR, addressed the media and stated: ‘As the market leader and a responsible corporate citizen, Hero MotoCorp is committed to promoting skill development under the CSR programme Educate to Empower. We are constantly engaged in enhancing and developing skills through a series of programmes… In Telangana we have partnered with Swarna Bharat Trust in an effort to bring about effective change in the society.’

Hero MotoCorp has established similar training centres across the country. The recent openings include one at Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, one at Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh, and one each in Gurugram and Rewari in Haryana.

Under its Educate to Empower programme, Hero MotoCorp also conducts nationwide programmes focused at skill development. One of their popular initiatives is Pahal. Focused at training young girls to ride two-wheelers, the programme has been appreciated for addressing concerns related to independent mobility.
