Gudville, an
online network for individuals to
discover opportunities for making social impact, has announced Ripple Rewards worth Rs 60 lakh for
non-profit organizations (NGOs). The NGOs could win grants worth five lakh
rupees every month through the next 12 months. Gudville’s idea is to encourage
non-profit and other social organizations in the ’causes’ domain to use
Gudville’s platform to introduce their causes directly to individuals.
The platform will help in creating mass awareness
and mass ownership for causes by creating a ripple effect through social media
networks. People can simply log on to Gudville and support a cause. As people offer their support, Gudville builds a
personal social responsibility profile of each supporter and she in return gets
points as token of recognition for each cause she supports.
The
five lakh rupee rewards in question will go to the organization that will get
maximum supporters each month. Of course, there is the possibility of a single
organization sweeping away the entire Rs 60 lakh booty.
‘The
initial reward fund as well as the capital to sustain Gudville will be pooled in
by the founding members of Gudville; there is no organizational support. At a
later stage, when there is enough traction happening on the site and there is
enough buzz around the causes on the social mediums, we expect corporate groups
to support causes that are anyway being supported by their consumers. The idea
is to build a platform wherein non-government organizations, consumers and
corporate brands can together converse with each other and do their bit towards
the cause that they all support,’ Subhash
Dhar, founder, Gudville, told CauseBecause before the official launch.
‘The platform will enable individuals to impact social actions around
them by making informed choices about our daily economic activities including
consumption,’ said Dhar.
