at improving water condition around their brewery, Molson Coors Cobra India Ltd
has taken on the responsibility to provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene
facilities for people in Bihta and Sheohar regions of Bihar. The company is
installing new water points, restoring defunct tube wells/bore wells, creating
child- and gender-friendly water and sanitation facilities, and is also
creating awareness around healthy and hygienic living at schools.
As per
the information shared with CauseBecause, Molson Coors India is implementing
water-focused initiatives in association with its partner Water for People
India Trust, a non-profit development organization. So far the company has
constructed 18 water facilities (including restoration of 16 defunct bore wells)
and provided sanitation facilities in three schools. About 1,300 people across
Bihta and Sheohar districts now have access to improved drinking-water
facilities.
In

The
project has gained support from the state education department through a
matching grant to be utilized to create water and sanitation facilities in
schools.
In the
first phase, which started in April 2013, five new water schemes were
implemented in Bihta and three in Sheohar. Additionally, three renovation water
projects were completed in Sheohar. Two school water, sanitation and hygiene
(SWASH) projects were executed in the middle schools of Bihta and Sheohar. In
the second phase, which started in June 2014, four water points were put up in
Bihta and three defunct water points were renovated in Sheohar.
Molson Coors Cobra India is a joint venture
between Molson Coors Brewing Company and Cobra Indian Beer. Formed in 2011, the
company is headquartered in Mumbai and its brewery is located in Bihar.
