Over 70 employees of
Garware-Wall Ropes Limited (GWRL), one of India’s leading manufacturers of
technical textiles, engaged in a massive plantation drive in Ghorwadi village, on the way to Talegaon on the old Pune”Mumbai
road.
The tree-plantation drive
is a part of GWRL’s endeavour to contribute to ecology conservation in Pune.
The employees planted various saplings including those of almonds, rosewood,
fig and plum, and have chalked out a strategic plan to nurture these saplings.
A team of employees will visit the plantations site on Sundays and ensure that
they are growing well.
In a media release shared with
CauseBecause, Prabodh Kamat,
president of operations, Garware-Wall Ropes, stated: ‘With the current initiative, we aim to create awareness
about environmental conservation, thereby reiterating our commitment towards
the communities we operate in.’
GWRL intends to pursue tree-plantation drives on a regular basis. A similar
initiative is planned for Singhad area. Overall, the company’s volunteers have
succeeded in planting over 10,000 new trees in the region.
