Expanding its Community Health Intervention
Program (CHIP), Dr Reddy’s has taken the initiative to Vizianagaram district in
Andhra Pradesh.

The programme is aimed at ensuring ante- and
post-natal care, safe delivery and infant care, primary immunisation of
children, and safe motherhood. CHIP will leverage from the expertise of
auxiliary nurse midwives (ANM) and general nurse midwives (GNM), along with
professional nurses, and deploy two mobile ambulances in the region. The
project is expected to benefit over 70,000 people residing in more than 50
villages.

The project also provides a fixed day
healthcare service (FDHS) where doctors conduct regular screening and attend to
basic health issues on predetermined days, twice every week in each village.

CHIP was launched in 2013 in partnership with
Neonatal Intensive Care and Emergencies (NICE) Foundation. The foundation
claims to have improved access to primary healthcare, with special focus on
reducing the mortality rate of infants and children in more than 54 villages of
Ranastalam Mandal of Srikakulam district.
