Google and Social Alpha have announced a partnership to support social-impact startups. It is aimed at helping startups gain access to mentors, tools and methodologies for building businesses that can impact the technology ecosystem. Social Alpha is backed by Tata Trusts and as part of this programme will gain access to Google’s insights, research and best practices to help grow social-impact startups at scale.

The partnership will support startups focused on machine learning and AI technologies in their products or services. The rationale is that AI- and ML-driven technologies can help social-impact startups achieve scale, since such ventures usually have low budgets and their target customers cannot afford their services. Mentorship provided by the programme will help startups raise funds. This initiative will also help Social Alpha create learning programmes based on information and resources from some of the world’s top accelerators such as Google Developers Launchpad.

Social Alpha is a startup incubator that focuses on tech-driven startups and provides seed and early-stage capital. It also provides services to help with scale and sustainability in social entrepreneurship.
