Commemorating Amway’s 15 years in India, its CSR arm Amway
Opportunity Foundation played host to the ‘National Summit on Corporate Social Responsibility – Sustainable
Development’ in Delhi on 6 May 2013. The objective of the summit was to ideate, discuss
and call for action on pertinent issues that require the joint intervention and
initiative of all key stakeholders including corporate enterprises, social
service/not-for-profit organizations, thinkers under the aegis and
policy-vision-driven guidance of the Government of India in the space of social
responsibility activities.
The event was presided over by Anurag
Thakur, member of parliament, joint secretary of BCCI and member of Indian
Olympic Association, along with Samir Behl, regional president of Amway Corporation (Europe, India, Africa), and William S Pinckney, MD and CEO, Amway India,
and chairman of Amway Opportunity Foundation.
Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF) also announced the institution of AOF Young Achievers Awards – the national platform from
AOF to recognize the talents and efforts of young achievers from differently
abled persons from across India.
The inaugural edition of these awards saw
winners in J Rajashekar Reddy from Hyderabad, who is the
first visually challenged chartered accountant from Andhra Pradesh and the
fourth from India; Mamta Namdev Tambe, a visually
challenged girl from Mumbai, a throughout academic topper and an employee of
State Bank of India; Nilotpal Baishya, a visually challenged teacher with
Guwahati Blind High School; and Ambalal Gurjar,a visually
challenged sports personality from
Jodhpur with 33 medals in national and international sports.

successful in generating novel and dynamic ideas from all key stakeholders in
the space of social responsibility that would help us meet the goal of inclusive
growth,’ read Pinckney’s statement in a press
release from the foundation.
The 2013 is a significant year for Amway as it is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Global CSR initiative ‘One-By-One Campaign For
Children’ that has impacted the lives of nearly 10 million children. The company claims
that every year their welfare activities under the aegis of Amway Opportunity
Foundation benefit over 12,000 children in India. They claim to have succeeded
in this sustainable endeavour with the support of their distributors and
employees.
