ATC India, an independent telecom tower
company, has initiated a social project called Hiwel Learning Stations, Solar
and Sanitation in Karnataka. Being implemented in association with
Hole-in-the-Wall Education Limited (HiWEL) and NIIT Foundation, the project
provides e-enabled education to underprivileged children in rural and
semi-urban areas through learning stations that have pre-loaded educational
material. The project aims at enhancing functional computer literacy among
school children aged between six and fourteen years.
ATC India and HiWEL provide access to
computer-based learning to underprivileged children through e-learning kiosks
at community/government run schools and e-learning kiosks at ATC tower sites.
ATC
India has already implemented four such integrated projects at schools in Karnataka.
In a press release issued to CauseBecause, Amit Sharma, executive vice
president of ATC India, said: ‘As a part of our CSR programme for 2014″15, ATC
India undertook projects in seven schools distributed between Karnataka and
Andhra Pradesh. Our philanthropy programmes aim at blending education with
technology.’
