The Camel Art Foundation (CAF) 2016 contest is open to all professional artists and  students. There is no entry fee and the age criteria for applying is 18 years  and above.

Launched in  1998, CAF, which is the philanthropic wing of Kokuyo Camlin Limited, promotes  art and is dedicated to provide a platform for budding artists to showcase  their talent and work. There are two categories in the contest, for professionals  and for students. The artists participating in the event are allowed to use four mediums of colours – oil, acrylic, drawing & pastels, and water. The  artist can share a maximum of two entries (including all mediums). Each entry  is to be submitted individually. Last date for receiving online entries is 30 September 2016. From the entries received, 16 national winners will be  shortlisted. The winners will undergo a judging round based on their portfolio  and a Skype interview. From these 16 national winners, six to eight will be shortlisted as Grand Prize winners. The Grand Prize winners will be taken to an  all-expense-paid trip to Europe to visit art galleries and museums.

Saumitra  Prasad, chief marketing officer, Kokuyo Camlin Ltd, said, ‘The previous  editions of CAF saw the artistic skills of many come to the fore and this has  really left us spellbound. We are more than happy to be the stepping stone for  such budding artists to showcase their talent and work. This year’s Grand  winners will not only get an opportunity to visit the famous art galleries  across Europe but their work will also be showcased at an exhibition at  Jehangir Art Gallery, one of Mumbai’s famous landmarks for art aficionados,  early next year.’

In the ‘professional’  category, there will be four national cash awards of Rs 1 lakh each – that is, one per medium; in the ‘students’ category there will be 12 national cash awards –  that is, three per medium, with the first prize per medium being Rs 50,000 and two  ‘best entry’ prizes per medium being Rs 21,000 each.

Applicant  has to fill up the form and attach a high-resolution image of the painting and  a copy of student ID card, if applicable, and submit the entry. A unique  system-generated code will be created which will be the reference code. Participants  have to submit their entries online by logging on to
