Along with a proposal of partnership, Finland has offered $55 billion. The partnership will help in discovering technologies that will advance India’s potential for clean energy.
India’s National Action Plan on Climate Change spurred interest among foreign energy companies, with its goal of generating 15 per cent of total power from renewable sources by 2020, starting with five per cent in 2010.
India’s ambitious strategy also seeks to generate 20,000 MW through solar power alone by 2020.
Recently, CauseBecause had reported about India’s New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah announcing that 10,000 villages across the country would be electrified with renewable resources by 2012, which would also increase India’s employment rate.
India ranks sixth in the world in total energy consumption and recognizes the importance of becoming a leader in the world of renewable resources.
Plans for expansion and partnership between the two countries are being discussed at the International Renewable Energy Conference in New Delhi. The event concludes on October 29.
