On World No-Tobacco Day, Siliguri Sumita Cancer Relief Welfare and Educational Society, non-government organization in West Bengal’s Siliguri city, organized a day-long anti-smoking campaign. The campaign was an effort to create awareness among people about ill effects of tobacco.
The NGO took out a rally with students and the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets holding placards and banners in support of their campaign.
“Our aim is to have a tobacco-free Siliguri state. The coming generation would be benefited. Those who are addicted to tobacco will also get benefit and it will also help to reduce cancer,” said M K Bhattacharya, the secretary of the Siliguri Sumita Cancer Relief Welfare and Educational Society.
On the occasion, the members of the NGO also performed street plays to highlight the issue.
