The second batch of 25 students under the UGAM Legrand scholarship programme for higher education in France were recently felicitated at an event. The scholarship programme was started in 2018 to support Indian students to pursue higher education in France. The programme, the first of its kind in the country, was launched in association with the Franco-Indian Education Trust (part of French Embassy in India) with the advisory support of Whiteswan consulting group. In 2018, the programme supported 26 students.  

Present at the event were Dana Purcarescu, the chargé d’affaires a.i., Tony Berland, CEO and managing director, Legrand India, Sameer Saxena, director marketing, Legrand (Group)India, Abida Aneez, CSR head, Legrand India, and Palash Nandy, CEO, Numeric.

Through the UGAM scholarship programme, Legrand India aims to promote quality education to deserving Indian students by assisting them to pursue their Masters in France in recognised disciplines. The selection of the candidates is based on the eligibility criteria of the programme which includes academic merit and socio-economic status (lower family income). The company provides financial aid up to 10,000 euros (INR 8 lakhs) per student who wish to pursue higher education in France.

The company spokesperson informs CauseBecause that the Franco-Indian Education Trust (Campus France) is the implementation partner while the France Indian Education Trust supports mobility of students in diverse domains from India to France for their studies in France, guiding them to choose the right universities and helping with the academic programme guidelines.
