Khush and Vikram both are leading a happy and healthy life.
But not all was well for them until sometime ago. While Vikram, son of a washerman,
was diagnosed with a hole in his heart, Khush was diagnosed with a congenital
heart disease.

Both were fighting for life until Max India Foundation, the
social arm of Max India Group, stepped in.

Max India Foundation, or MIF, sponsored the operations, giving
both Vikram and Khush a new lease of life.

Founded in 2008, the foundation began its CSR activities
with burning issues such as environment, children and health. Undertaking the
task of providing free health to the underprivileged, the foundation today has
reached 139 locations and has over 50,000 beneficiaries across India.

About the rationale behind these initiatives, Mohini Daljeet
Singh, head of Max India Foundation, says: ‘Since we are in the business of
life, it was important for us to understand its value. And the only way we
could do this was to contribute in making a better life for the
underprivileged.

Our healthcare initiatives have been a huge success and we
make sure that it is availed by each one of them who are poor, needy and
deserving.’

The foundation, which started with basic immunization
camps followed by regular health check-ups, today has opened health centres in
partnership with NGOs such as CanSupport, Jamghat and Chinmaya Mission, making provisions for free treatment and medicine to the people in the city.

The foundation and Max New York Life Insurance together with
local NGOs also reached out to the underprivileged in the remotest areas of India and
provided vaccinations to children in the age range of 0-12 years for deadly diseases
like Hepatitis B, DPT, MMR, and measles.

A broader platform to reach out to the people, Singh
feels that their CSR activities have helped in brand enhancement as well. ‘More
and more people have come to know about the company through these activities. Also, these activities have provided a forum to all our
employees to come together and work, thus building up strong bonds.’

Apart from running weekly health check-ups for children in
the Sunlight Street in Delhi, their latest initiative was a short film on
diabetes awareness featuring Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor.

The film was run in all Max Hospitals to advise viewers on
regular check-ups, as early detection will help a patient live a better quality
life.
