A partnership to help bridge the country’s skills gap has been announced by Salesforce and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Under this agreement, Salesforce will share its online training programme, Trailhead, with NSDC’s skill development and capacity building initiatives.  Salesforce is one of the world’s biggest customer relationship management solutions providers. NSDC works under the central government’s Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and is responsible for the Skill India Mission, the government’s flagship skill-development project.

Salesforce’s myTrailhead is an online training platform that is customisable; users can create and publish their own training content. The free online learning platform can be used by anyone to skill up for better job prospects in the digital economy. Through this partnership, NSDC and Salesforce aim to empower learners and educators to improve their skills through the platform’s content, presentations and training resource. They also plan to reach out to colleges and universities to help them adopt NSDC’s courses and curriculum and engage with students through the Trailhead platform.

In a press release, Dr Manish Kumar, MD & CEO, NSDC, states that ‘preparing for the future workforce requires active collaboration from private and public players, and this partnership is an endeavour to offer continual learning opportunities via digital platforms to the youth across the country.’

Sarah Franklin, EVP and GM, Platform, Trailhead and Developers, Salesforce, says: ‘Trailhead’s mission is to remove barriers to learning by empowering anyone to skill up for the jobs of tomorrow. We’re pleased to partner with NSDC in bringing this new paradigm of workforce development to India: one focused on learning in-demand skills and achieving real-world outcomes.’
